Dream Big, Dream Often  With a blog name like that, I expected the writer to be a man, like Indiana Jones.  Turns out, he’s just like so many of the rest of us -scared of life. He claims he is a quitter -someone who starts things, and once bored -he quits. All my life, I’ve been terrified of failure, and even more terrified to give up.  Tough life!  With these two sides of me battling it out, I was domed to fail long before I began. Result?  I’ve done lots of things!  I never let my being a woman prevent me from speaking my mind (much to my own embarrassment).  I will struggle to lift the same beam; a man will, in the hopes of getting my barn just right.  I have walked downtown St. Louis, in the middle of the night (alone, I might add), just because I could.   Gone to NYC, alone, gone white-water rafting, hiked up White Face Mountain, entered horse riding competitions, worked cattle, judged horse shows, trained dogs in obedience, …

My “Like” Authors

I just took a ride on the path of a little entertainment. On another blog, a person mentioned a site called “I write like.”  The purpose of this site is to show you what writers, famous writers, you write like. So, I put in a chapter from several of my novels.  Interesting… Shinee Love Story – William Gibson is the author chosen.  I think this is because I chose the 2nd chapter, and Mr. Gibson likes to start out, leaving you guessing.  My mistake -as I am sure this is not my writing comparison. So, I switched to first chapters. My Olympic Gold Romance produced Kurt Vonnegut as my “write like” choice.  One site, (wikispaces) claimed, “writer with an excessively unique, and persuasive style of writing.”  They say he uses similes and metaphors to evoke emotion in his readers.  I like that!  Seems we could have something in common here. Then, I put in a chapter from my twisted romance.  One that moves between love, danger, and drama.  Well, I got Dan Brown, the writer of …

2015 in review

I wrote my first blogpost for http://www.fiddledeedeebooks.wordpress.com in August of 2015.  This is the results for this short period.  Thank you everyone for helping 2015 be a great year for my blog.  I hope you will stick with me as the years go by.  I promise to do the same for you. Dee Vaal   The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2015 annual report for this blog. Here’s an excerpt: A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 420 times in 2015. If it were a cable car, it would take about 7 trips to carry that many people. Click here to see the complete report.

Downstream

“Everyone lives downstream from someone” was the comment Rixlibris left on one of my recent posts. And it sums up the entire issue with us human beings and the way we treat our home. ?? Just think about it: We do things of we think will never effect us and kind of don’t care what it might do to others. But we all sit in the same boat. Even if the things we do never will be an issue for us personally, something someone else did might. What we put out there today will be an issue for our next generation and the generation to come.? ?? I’m not going to write about Global Warming. I’m not going to discuss if it’s happening or not (I do believe it is).? I simply want to put one question out there:? Imagine you own a beautiful house, with heaps of rare and amazing treasures. Then you invite people over. People you think are worth coming to your party. People you…

Guide for dating my daughter

Originally posted on Ah dad…:
There once was a little princess, and even at a tender age her beauty was evident.  Her blue eyes sparkled mischievously and a few freckles dotted her nose and cheeks.  Her hair, the colour of wheat, long and vibrant.  Her laughter filled everyone with joy.  Some say she would grow up to be the most beautiful in all the land.  It is predicted that young men (and some old farts), would come from far and wide to try to win her heart.  Therefore the King will have to prepare himself, to protect the heart of his daughter from the pricks and idiots who would pursue it in years to come. I know this for a fact because the little princess lives in my house. Recently I met another dad who had the misfortune of having a dick of a son-in-law.  I am using this anatomical reference, because the person I talked to, seemed to think that this was the only working part of the guy his princess was married to. Based on this discussion, I decided that it was my obligation, as a loving father, to compile…

Spirituality

In response to a post by thelovemanifesto.  This blogger wrote about their belief in God -and how it has changed.  My Story: The Greatest Question of Them All.  I responded on this site best I could.  I am posting it on my blog because I know many of us have questions about all of the different interpretations of the Bible -and all of the new theories and Bibles being published. In a world where we question every belief -the Bible becomes harder to comply to.  We want to pick away at all of the words that are partially driven by the times.  If we let these question drive us to forget the basic words taught -we give strength to the devil. It saddens me when people take God’s intentions and twist them around to be the flaws of humankind.  Yes, men are flawed, and as a result there are things in the Bible that are influenced by the times.  However, the basic word -is as God wants us to hear and follow.  When we change …
