For The Children

I feel slightly sick to my stomach right now. Not because I ate something but because I watched a report on TV about children. Children and there rights. Or better the lack of them. Here is the thing: In Australia children have what you call the right to grow up with both parents. And I think it’s a good thing in a normal divorce case. In the case that was just discussed though, things are slightly different. It’s a domestic violence case. When the child was 18 months old the guy snapped more than normal and after beating his wife again he tied her up on a chair and threatened her to kill the child. Rape and other physical abuse followed. Long story short, she found the courage to get police involved and he was then sentenced to 5 year of prison (what in itself is a joke). Before he was sentenced though, during the time the court heard his case, he had the right to see his…

For The Glory…

“You believe that crap?” This woman asked yesterday, and like an out of control sneeze,  contempt just sprayed all over me. “Disgusting! Women exist for the glory of man,” she sneered. I am never surprised by a non believer’s capacity to make the pretty things ugly, and so I thought, incoming, take cover…and for goodness sake, hand this woman a hankie, I’m getting drenched here. I had no idea what she was even referring to, and I was already off diving under chairs, hiding from black helicopters, if only metaphorically. My brain drew a complete blank until suddenly I blurted out, “for the glory….” For those who don’t know, “for the glory,” is the slogan of this quirky, crazy, local race where people dress up in costumes with contraptions and try to make it through mud and sand traps. Although there is some athleticism that really shines through, for the most part it is the precise opposite of glory. And human dignity. In fact, much…

irumeur -250 ISIS Militants Killed

http://abc7.com/1407528/ via @abc7 250 ISIS Militants Killed When I read these report’s I must celebrate our county’s victory.  As I celebrate, I remember to bend my knees in prayer.  Why? Lives have been lost.  Each time any human dies, we have lost an earthly brother or a sister, maybe a child.  This act  should not be celebrated with great joy.  If we lose sight of humanity -then we become less than human. First, let me tell you all, I am so very proud of our soldiers who fight each day for our freedom.  Many of you already know that my father fought in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars.  I was one of the lucky children, to have my daddy return to me. Each time our men and woman go out -their lives are risked.  They do this for us.  A sacrifice none should be asked to make.  I celebrate them -and the continued freedom from all who would oppress us for greed, money, power, or even religion.  I think about their personal sacrifice -not only of …
