Share Your World – 2016 Week 31

What is your favorite part of the town/city you live in?  And what country do you live in?  I live in the United States.  My favorite part of town is no longer what it once was.  Years ago, I lived on top of Mt. Aire in French Lick, Indiana.  The Taggert Mansion is located on top of this mountain.  I would ride my horse out a section of trail that would lead to a spot overlooking far beyond our town.  Many times I would rest there and just enjoy the beauty.  Actually, my first novel (unpublished) has a scene in this very spot. 

When I dropped down over the hill, I once found a small building tucked into the woods.  I later learned the monks who lived in this town would go there for solace and prayer.

Now, that mountain is the Pete Dye Golf Course.  It is still beautiful, but nothing like the stunning natural landscape of the days when I called it home.  I’m not even sure if the cabin is still there.  I think it must be, but I no longer have access to it.

Would you rather wear clown every day or a clown wig every day?  Shoes.  I have a very sensitive head, and a wig would drive me crazy for itching.  You’ll also notice this same problem when I am stressed.

Which way does the toilet paper roll go?  Over or under?  Honestly, I don’t pay attention.  I think my husband prefers it to be under, but if I do place it over, I like to fold the first edge decoratively.

What do you do to make a living or during the day?  If you are retired what mostly occupies your day?    I am not particularly retired, but I don’t make a living.  Because of Lupus, I have so many problems it makes working exceptionally difficult -for instance, if I am under a fluorescent lamp, I will get a severe migraine.  Few people want to hire someone like that.  However, I keep busy as a CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocate for foster children).  I have 5 cases as one of my kids just went home.  

The rest of the time I am busy writing or being with my girls and/or grandchildren. 

Bonus question: What were you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the coming week?  This is easy.  Last week three of my grandchildren wanted to be with me before going back to school.  My house is always a full place to live with the noise of feet constantly running to find me in my office.  I love the sounds of laughter, foot steps, talking and the slamming of the door as they come in and out.  During these moments, I could care less if the TV or radio is on -because their voices replace the quiet.

This week, my girls start school on Wednesday.  I guess this will mean no more competition for the Internet.  We have such awful service in the woods, that if two people are using the Internet -the rest are  out of luck.  I hate telling the girls to get off so I can work, so school means less Internet stress.  Yeah!  I think…this will make me both sad and happy.
