Sorry?

Continuing my quest for justice in conversations across the intertoobz, I encountered this  interesting gender tendency around saying sorry. “Justice” within marriage requires an interest in your spouse’s perspective, sorrow for their suffering, and a willingness to name evil for what it is. Empathy. On both sides. No empathy, no connection. This is a very feminine perspective of course, but in order to feel loved, women need safety and justice. You want women to feel loved because, well because there are great perks there. Women function best when we feel loved. What is it to feel loved? Safety, justice, protection, provision. Men tend to feel love as something more entwined with respect. Someone smart once said the secret to a good marriage is just one-act of forgiveness after another. I think that is really true, and we are just speaking of the trials and tribulations of daily living here. Unforgiveness over a pair of socks left on the floor can fester, it can soon become contempt, and…

Frid på jord Peace on earth

One of our great Swedish folk singers Sofia Karlsson has written a beautiful song often heard at Christmas time in Sweden. Peace on earth. I like it. You can read a translation of the lyrics below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tymkdtpENgM FRID PÅ JORD Text.- Olivia Blyberg, Sofia Karlsson. Musik: Sofia Karlsson. ON EARTH The star full night they sounded so clear peace on earth, peace on earth It sounded wonderfully…

Drama Awards 2016: Closing Thoughts

Originally posted on Cozybooks:
Wow, guys, what a year it’s been! I’ve watched more dramas this year than any other year: 28 dramas finished (albeit three with liberal fast forwarding) and a further 9 I watched at least half of (this includes a few half finished re-watches). And my single completed Western drama, Stranger Things. A grand total of 38 tv shows–and now that the dust has settled, I’ve worked through my feelings and thought about them a lot–I can count on my two hands the shows I really loved and want to watch again. There were only seven, to be exact. So in the spirit of a fun review, I thought I’d give them each a Snow White’s Dwarf: W Two Worlds: Doc. Like Doc, W was always undeniably the leader of the pack, albeit a bit forgetful at times (har) and not always secure in his position. Plus, he and the drama had aaaaall the great ideas, although when pressured to execute them some might say he falls short (he doesn’t). Signal: Grumpy.…

No longer capable of giving birth, women are barren in this new world. Instead, babies are conceived in a petrie dish and there are more than one kind of living being. There are humans, developed by a male sperm piercing a female egg, and then there are the Mosouka’s, imitation cells with the same DNA structure as humans. Each human is born with a genetically matching Mosouka who will be given to them on their fifth birthday. And so, it is on the…

Foreign Drama -Great one-sided kissing

I posted these videos because you have to see what a great kisser Yang Yang is.  Love 020 is a cute drama although it has some problems.  One of those problems is the dual personality of Yang Yang’s character.  My daughter says his indifference is supposed to be cool -but I find it lifeless.  So, who was prepared for such mesmerizing kissing on his behalf. On the first kiss up against the white wall he goes in for the kill with such expertise you are sure he is totally into her.  I mean, his ambition makes you believe they will be doing much more intimate detail in 2 minutes. The sad part is -Zheng Shuang blows it -SHE DOESN’T KISS HIM BACK!!!!!!  It drives me crazy.  She took a fabulous -high scoring kiss and flattened it.  Is this because she is married or because that is how Chinese dramas go?  A couple of Chinese drama’s back the guy kissed the girl and she kissed him back -so what gives? Now to make this funnier -look at what …

Foreign Drama -Cheese in the Trap

Cheese in the Trap 16 episodes w/a bonus episode 2016 I suppose we all have an mental illness of some kind -only some are much worse off than the average person.  We grow up accepting our limitations without understanding what makes us different from the rest.  Yoo Jung is a psychopath.  He doesn’t understand emotion that is outside his own mind.  He enacts revenge on those who treat him differently or wrong him -without compassion. That all begins to unravel when he notices Hong Seul.  At first, he doesn’t like her and when she figures out his complying, kind nature is fake she fears him. So what changes? From there on out, everything changes.  As these two find one another in a world where they both feel overwhelmed by the demands others place upon them -they begin to find peace while the rest begin to fall apart.  Sad! We judge the different, and take advantage of their desperate need to be accepted.  But, have we ever once stopped to discover our own weaknesses and asked ourselves -am …
