Christmas!  My favorite holiday is upon us.

Singing Christmas carols bring back childhood memories, I dream to revisit.  You see; my daddy loved Christmas.  Every year, he did his very best to make the green and gold shine brighter.

Our home would fill with the aroma of bourbon balls, oranges, walnuts, and a beautiful tree.

As a child, we nearly always had a white Christmas.  I remember sitting at my window, watching the snow come down and dreaming I would hear the bells of Santa.

Daddy was the best at Christmas.  I never knew it, as I was growing up, but my dad never lost his inner child.  I’m sure he still believed in Santa, the day he died.

Creating was a way of life for him.  It wasn’t until he lost his dreams, he began to give up on life.  It is because of him, I learned to make my own dreams a reality.

He could take a tree, growing on his land (that I now own), cut it down, and turn the wood, until he created a game board, his house, a grandfather clock, or a toy.

My father never stopped playing with toys, whether it was made of wood, metal, or an easel and paint.  I want to be just like him!

Christmas reminds me of my daddy.  I wish for love, laughter, lights, music, and people to fill my home.  I want to see my children and grandchildren’s eyes pop; their mouths fall open, and their hearts skip a beat -just the way mine did.

The spirit of Christmas is for many, about the shopping and gifts.  For me, it is a sparkle -I want to hold onto, memories still to make, and  love offered, I think…I am rich in.

I am a mother of 16 children and grandchildren. Some of them are by blood and the rest by heart. I was a foster mom for a few years and the children I cared for during that time have mostly stayed with me through the years. I love to write, read, dance, paint, and play with my animals. I enjoy dressage riding and just being in the barn. My words are my gift, as they allow you to know me as I really am. Thanks for joining me on this ride of life!
